Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) is a system for defining and communicating engineering tolerances. It uses a symbolic language on engineering drawings and computer-generated three-dimensional solid models that explicitly describes nominal geometry and its allowable variation. GD&T is an acronym for Alpha Dimensioning and Tolerancing. It is a symbolic language that designers use to clearly communicate manufacturing constraints and tolerances. This information is conveyed in the form of comments contained in the part design., First, designers use GD&T's specific syntax and grammar rules to encode information into the model. This eliminates the lengthy notes in the drawings used to describe the table in the past. With GD&T, we have a wide range of tolerances that allow designers to flexibly communicate dimensional constraints based on part requirements.
